Student Welfare

Crestwood High School is committed to the welfare of all our students. Caring for the personal and social needs of our students is ongoing and continuous. The Welfare Team oversees these goals across the curriculum and through a wide range of activities.

The Welfare Team is

Head Teacher Welfare, Mrs Kerrie Graham who liaises with parents, students and teachers about welfare matters.

Year Advisers who assist students through their school lives. Year Advisers are often the first point of contact for parents and care givers with concerns about their children.

The Boys Welfare Adviser, Mr Peter Govan, helps boys succeed at school and runs Blooms cafe.

The School Counsellors, Ms Amanda Leung and Ms Kelli-Marie Moses are available to assist students in need and their families.

The Support Teacher Learning Assistance or STLA, Mr Carl Wegener, shares information with the team.

The Careers Adviser, Mrs Tina Fisher supports students entering the workforce.

The Learning Support Team

This small group of staff represented by the Principal, Deputy Principals, Counsellors, STLA, Careers Adviser, some Head Teachers and convened by Ms Kerrie Graham looks at students who are struggling academically and works to devise programs to promote learning and student well-being.

Activities for each year group include

Year 7

  • Peer Support program to ease students into high school
  • Camp at the end of Term 1 with Peer Support Leaders
  • "The Hurting Game", an antibullying drama performance

Year 8

 

  • "Verbal Combat", an antibullying production

Year 9

  • Camp in Term 4 with rope courses, canoeing and abseiling to build skills in leadership and team building
  • "Verbal Combat", an antibullying production

Year 10

  • Peer Support training
  • Self Defence course
  • "Cheap Thrills", a production to help prepare students for life\'s challenges and the consequences of decision making.
  • Training Boy for Blooms Cafe.
  • Juice Bar training for girls.

Year 11

  • Camp in Term 2 to refine study skills for the senior school
  • "Wired" a production to help students with the HSC year.
  •  Boys trained at Blooms supervise and train the Year 10 boys.
  • Girls trained at Juice Bar supervise and train the Year 10 girls.

Year 12

  • Mentor System, linking teachers and students, provides support for students in their final year
  • Study Skills Seminar is held in Term 3.
