STLA
The role of the Support Teacher Learning Assistance or STLA is to support students with learning difficulties and help them achieve to their potential.
The STLA
- identifies Year 7 students with reading problems
- tests students referred by teachers to determine their reading level
- liaises with Mathematics staff to identify students having problems
- supports identified students by assisting in lessons or withdrawing small groups for intensive work on specific skills
- supports students from Stage 5 who self refer or who are referred by teachers
The STLA also assembles applications for Special Provisions for eligible students sitting for the School Certificate or Higher School Certificate. Special Provisions are available to students with medical conditions or learning difficulties that prevent them from doing their best under normal exam conditions.
Please contact the school or Mr Carl Wegener, our STLA, if you have any queries about support for your child.
