PEER TUTORING

Interested Year 11 students are trained as tutors in a TAFE accredited course to improve reading for under performing students in Year 7 (Stage 4).

• students meet in the library each morning from 8.25am to 8.40am
• tutors work with tutees on texts they will use in class.
• reading and comprehension skills are improved.
• students gain in confidence when approaching class work.
• it is a settling start to the day.

This program has proved to be extremely valuable. Year 7 students average an improvement of two reading years. Year 11 students gained leadership skills and confidence.
