NAPLAN testing: As you would be aware, the testing of students in Years 7 and 9 for Literacy and Numeracy will go ahead after some conciliation between the teaching unions and the Federal and State governments. I understand we have a two week window in which to administer the tests. We will be meeting on Friday (today) to determine when and how the tests will be administered. I am very pleased to see some degree of sensibility has returned. The results from the testing procedures are valuable and we use them to examine the progress of students in these areas. A letter will be posted here and given to students giving more details and times.
Calendar: We are still trying to work out how we can attach the calendar to the Info-Line. It is our intention to publish a calendar for the term each week.
Year 11 Camp: I had the pleasure in visiting our students at Jindabyne this week. The students were enjoying themselves although many of them appeared to be quite tired from an early start and a long bus trip. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to complete the mandatory components in the Cross Roads course. It also offers students an opportunity to examine their test results and to add some study skills to their repertoire for the future.
Maternity Leave: Leilani Martin, our Head Teacher PDHPE is leaving us this week to prepare for the birth of her third child. We wish her well and hope the delivery is text book. She is being replaced by Linley Abrahams(who is also pregnant). Other staff to leave us this term for the birth of children are Amy Parker (English) and Helen Soar (Mathematics). I think it must be the water!
