School Development Day Term 2
Our School Development Day this term focused on two areas. Firstly the staff and parents examined the progress of the PBL project. The PBL group are re-badging their product to be AIM. The staff viewed the first lesson to be presented to the students on Wednesday morning. Every student in the school will be introduced to AIM using the "Be Safe, Be a Learning and Be Responsible" set of expectations. The lesson will be taught to the students because it is believed that whilst schools teach knowledge and subject content, it is an expectation that students automatically know how to behave. By teaching expected behaviours, all students gain an insight into how they are expected to behave in and around the school.
The other focus of the day was on technology. We are very mindful of the introduction of the Laptops 4 Learning project this year. As a staff we have determined that we need to improve our skills in the technology area. For the second time we looked at making blogs and wikis and making a podcast. This time we also looked at Smart Boards and the use of emails in the teaching environment. I believe the staff appreciated the new or re-enforced skills acquired on the day.
At the next P&C Meeting, our Deputy Principal Melinda Bright will be taking the parents through a lesson on the Smart Board. This will be on Tuesday May 5th at 7.30pm. All parents are invited.
