Bands
Our regular weekly ensemble is a Stage Band that plays contemporary style music, including jazz, blues and theatre music. Students have enjoyed mastering the range of pieces and the standard of the group has made it a popular contributor at school events.
A second stage band has been started for students in Stage 4. It caters for all instrumentalists and the musical focus is the same as for the senior band.
A feature of Music teaching at Crestwood is the formation of small groups of musicians to form ensembles to perform for specific events. This flexible approach provides opportunities for a diverse range of musical interests and aptitudes. Students gain experience in rehearsing for and performing in a range of situations. They enjoy the changing combinations and value the close connections with their teachers.
In 2007 the school's muscial The Little Shop of Horrors has combined solo and ensemble singing with band backing. The choral group that has formed during the production will continue after the performances as a separate ensemble.
