Vocational Educational and Training
Vocational Educational and Training or VET at Crestwood HS is available to students in Years 11 and 12. VET courses
- provide dual accreditation under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and credit towards the HSC.
- can be studied at school or TAFE
- include two work placements to demonstrate competencies totalling 70 hours
- have 2 unit value towards the HSC.
VET courses offered by the school are
Hospitality
- Commercial cookery strand
Learning to become a Chef
Construction
- Working in a safe manner (OH & S)
Basic skills to undertake building activities
Metals and Engineering
- Practical skills in metals from welding to hand tools.
Crestwood High School also offers TAFE VET (TVET). These courses provide both HSC and TAFE accreditation. They are studied at a TAFE Campus. Students attend TAFE on Monday or Wednesday usually from 2 - 6 pm.
School based Traineeships are another alternative offered to students at our school. Students combine completing their HSC, a VET subject and 400 hours of paid employment and training in industry.
