TAS Life Studies

TAS Life Studies

The TAS Life Faculty is proud to offer a range of subjects that provide our students with interesting and engaging learning experiences.

Many of subjects have a strong practical focus, allowing students to develop valuable skills.

  • Students studying Exploring Childhood use our Computerised Infant Simulator called "Chloe" and quickly learn about raising children!
  • Practical food preparation lessons in a range of subjects teach valuable food handling skills.
  • Students studying Design and Technology benefit from our problem solving approach that encourages creativity and innovation when developing their design project.

We promote academic excellence. Classes of students in our subjects consistently achieve above state average results in the HSC. Recent notable achievements include

  • 6th in the state in Food Technology in 2001
  • 2nd in the state in Community and Family Studies in 2002
  • inclusion of a Design and Technology major work in the Design Tech exhibition at the Power House Museum in 2004.

Many subjects lead to rewarding career opportunities in the hospitality, child care, teaching, nursing, dietetics, food technology, graphic and fashion design and marketing industries.
