School Religious Education or Scripture

Crestwood High has a full-time SRE teacher, representing all the local Christian churches.

• Years 7 - 8 and Support Unit have 1 lesson per week.
• Year 9 have 1 lesson per fortnight.
• Years 10 - 12 have Scripture Seminars once a term, run on behalf of all local churches.
• Students not wishing to attend Scripture because of their own beliefs, need signed notes from their parents and do homework in the Library.
• ISCF group, where Christian students are encouraged to grow as Christians, is held lunchtime each Thursday

All students are given the opportunity to decide whether the claims of Jesus are valid. Lessons are a mixture of games, video clips, group discussion, worksheets and powerpoint presentations. Topics include:

• God: Who is He? Does He exist?
• Jesus: What did He claim? What did He do?
• Bible: Can it be trusted? What does it say?
• Relationships
• Forgiveness
• Comparing different religions (in Year 9)
• The meaning behind Christmas & Easter.
